Some 45,000 employees in the manufacturing sector in Malaysia will go on leave soon as most factories will shutdown for Chinese Near Year celebrations. Some factories would stop operations for two to three weeks and employers would ask the workers to take either paid or unpaid leave.
This shutdown is because of a drop in demand and so the factories have to temporary terminate their workers. As on January 12, some 14,000 people had been retrenched.
