Museum Sungai Lembing

Sungai Lembing is a tin mining town 42 km northwest of Kuantan.Until the 1970s, Sungai Lembing was a major producer of underground tin among the largest and deepest in the world. The total tunnel length is 322 km, with a depth of between 610 m and 700 m. A museum highlighting the tin mining industry was opened in 2003. The museum is housed in an old bungalow once used by the mine manager. The museum houses a collection of mining artifacts.

Kuantan- Seramai 75 peniaga di Medan Pelancong dekat sini diminta mengosongkan premis perniagaan mereka selewat-lewatnya Ogos depan berikutan keputusan MPK akan meneruskan Projek Pusat Komersial dan Kebudayaan bernilai RM200 juta.

Bagaimanapun pengurusan MPK bersama Pasdec Holdings Berhad bersetuju menyediakan tapak dan kemudahan premis kepada peniaga berkenaan bagi memudahkan peniaga meneruskan aktiviti perniagaan mereka.

Yang Dipertua MPK, Datuk Azizan Ahmad berkata, pihaknya sudah mencapai persetujuan dgn peniaga terbabit hasil drpd dialog dan perbincangan yang diadakan pada 15 MEI lalu. Antara tapak yang dikenal pasti adalah di Indera Mahkota, Jln Merdeka, berhampiran Pusat Penerangan Pelancong dan Shahzan Inn bagi memastikan perniagaan mereka tidak terjejas.

"Kita juga berpuas hati dgn penjelasan projek itu yang mampu menjadi daya tarikan terbaru di Kuantan selepas ini," katanya.

Projek itu turut menempatkan hotel bertaraf 4 bintang termasuk 200 bilik, dewan besar serta medan selera dibina di pinggir Sungai Kuantan dan dijangka bermula akhir 2009 dan siap tiga tahun kemudian bertujuan menggantikan kawasan premis perniagaan sedia ada.
